Well, Mama Goose has been nesting (on my deck), as have I (inside the houseboat). I made a nice dent in cleaning out my second bedroom so that, if and when I do get the call, I just need to swap out the desk for a crib. The update on Mama Goose and her six (!) eggs is less optimistic. Over a week ago, I saw and heard (chirp chirp) one gosling for about two days happily waddling around and then heard a noisy brouhaha early one morning with lots of 'honking' and have not seen baby goose since. I fear a racoon or another bird may have swept the newborn away. Disruption. Not sure what to make of all that as I (and other friends) could not help but wonder if the 'nesting' and laying of eggs on my deck in early April (just as I finished my paperwork and was added to the 'pool') could have been a sign. On top of the missing gosling, I am afraid the remaining eggs may not have a chance as we have long passed the 30-day gestation period. So, now, I have these two dear and ever so faithful and hopeful geese living on my deck waiting to start a family, and I guess that brings us back to sharing something in common. The waiting. Of course, I am curious if there has been any interest by the birthmothers in my profile--any close calls? But I also need to see this time as one of getting ready. And indeed, there is much to do. So, I'll take advantage of this rainy Sunday and see if I can make some more dents. Until next time....

You blow me away. I always knew you were a special girl, (now woman). I support your decisions, wish you the best in your period of waiting and can't wait to be a part of your life as a mom. I know and am friends with many who are adopted and chose to adopt their children. I have more respect for them as individuals than I do for those of us who naturally became parents. Your journey is a much more educated one, both of yourself and in your quest. God Bless You. (The geese/egg thing is nature's way-I did find out that birds are very good adoptive parents (at least bird's of prey-go figure). I say everything is an omen, especially when you focus on the good karma around all of us.
